Imagine you're in charge of laying the foundation for the house you plan on living in for the rest of your life. You would want to guess at the process or ask someone else how they did it years ago on different bedrock and climate, hoping the same works for you. You'd want the most up-to-date methods, help, and plans. You'd want blueprints...
To our surprise, we've heard so many students don't know the AICPA created a set of blueprints to help students study for the CPA Exam. We've not only meticulously reviewed those blueprints, we've incorporated them into our study materials. We want you to understand why this was so important we overhauled our curriculum in order to help you pass.
Know the Land You're Building On
Know what lays under the foundation and thus how to approach the build. The first step is to know the specifics about what you're up against. The AICPA made this easy by providing a detailed breakdown of the number of multiple-choice questions and task-based simulations for each section of the exam.
Construction Isn't Describing How a Nail Works - It's Swinging a Hammer
Content is not only described, but scenarios a CPA could be expected to know are also given. In fact, nearly 600 tasks give clarity as to what students are expected to know. This is especially important because the test is now aimed to ready the CPA student to know more realistic task-based simulations.
Buildings Change to Meet Current Needs
A house built in San Francisco 50 years ago isn't going to have the same earthquake structural precautions modern-day homes. That's because the awareness, technology, and thus capabilities to meet the world's needs have changed. The whole point of the change to the CPA Exam is to bolster the confidence of those who get their CPA to be effective in the real world. You will be able to see the skill levels of material tested for each topic as well as the task associated. This will cover basics through the implementation of complex materials.
Builders Need to Be Up To Code
Not only are there best practices in any trade, there are also legally binding requirements. The exam blueprints give lists of references at the end of each section. This includes guidelines and federal regulations which you should look into as extra resources to prepare. If you have a good base knowledge of these resources, you'll be well prepared and ready to apply your knowledge on the exam.
Incorporating the AICPA Blueprints into our curriculum was done to ensure the foundation you are building to pass the CPA Exam, and even more important to become the best CPA you can be, is as solid as can be. If you have any more questions we'd be happy to answer them for you, or you can check out this video for a more in-depth look on the Blueprints from President Phil Yaeger.
